Foi, em 18 de Junho de 1908, que, chegou ao Porto de Santos, o "Kasato Maru", navio, que trouxe 165 famílias de japoneses. A grande parte, destes imigrantes, era formada, por camponeses, de regiões pobres, do Norte e Sul do Japão, que vieram trabalhar, nas prósperas, fazendas de café, do Oeste do Estado de São Paulo.
